About Pedigree Papers

A pedigree is essentially a birth certificate for your dog showing 3 generation family tree and also proves that your dog is in fact a purebred.

What information is on a Pedigree.

Your dogs pedigree name, Date of birth, colour, microchip number, their registration number, DNA profile number, your information, breeders information, Parents and 3 generations family information.

The Australian National Kennel Council Ltd (ANKC) was established in 1958, now known as Dogs Australia. Is the ONLY internationally recognised registry able to issue certified pedigrees for purebred dogs.

All ANKC breeders must abide to the Code of Ethics outlined on the ANKC website.

ANKC Certified pedigrees are also recognised with the state government and local councils.

All other registries such as Master Dog Breeders Association, ABR, Australian Canine registry, ICBS and there are now so many more, they are not affiliated with the ANKC and CANNOT issue Certified Pedigrees.

If you have doubts if a breeder is registered contact your ANKC State office to confirm them.
